Aluminum composite panels can be connected using connection methods commonly used for metal and plastic fabrication. Here are a few common connection methods.
1、Rivet connection:
Aluminum composite panels can be connected between panels or between panels and other materials using rivets suitable for aluminum. For outdoor or high humidity areas of application, you should use stainless steel core rivets to avoid rust and corrosion affecting the aluminum panel surface, if you use iron core rivets, the iron core must be withdrawn after the riveted connection. Countersunk head rivets should only be used for indoor applications.
2、With threaded fixings:
Two types of external and indoor use:
a. Outdoor fixings.
When the outdoor use of threaded fixings, need to consider the coefficient of thermal expansion of aluminum composite panels, in order to avoid aluminum composite panels due to thermal deformation and extrusion deformation, aluminum composite panels above the opening needs to be larger than the diameter of the screw, in order to meet the requirements of expansion and expansion.
The use of stainless steel screws with sealing washers can avoid extrusion and deformation of aluminum composite panels, and the function of this product has been verified. To choose the right screw for the structure, use a torque wrench or screwdriver to tighten the screw to ensure that the gasket effectively seals the opening but is not too tight and leaves marks on the surface of the aluminum plate. Sometimes it is necessary to use a deformed drill bit or sleeve to drill holes in the aluminum plate or substructure to achieve centered drilling and riveting construction.
Note that it is important to ensure that the protective film is removed before fixing the screws.
b. Fixings for interior use.
Connections for interior applications can be made using screws for fixing steel or wood panels with different head shapes. These screws usually do not allow for thermal expansion displacement of the aluminum composite panel.
Countersunk head screws can be used to fix aluminum composite panels, either by using the usual countersunk head hole method or by pressing the aluminum panel directly into the panel, which is done with a hole in the aluminum panel larger than the diameter of the screw rod.
3、Plastic welding (for PE core material only):
Welding between plastics using hot air can be applied to the connection between aluminum-plastic sheets, using an electrically heated torch to melt the aluminum sheet with heated air starved of polyethylene core material layer and polyethylene plastic welding rod after cooling, the following are the conditions for obtaining good welding quality:
a. Well prepared board edge interface.
b. Clean hot air.
c. Correct welding temperature.
d. Correct contact pressure.
e. Welding speed.
4、cementation:
Bonding using metal adhesives/general purpose adhesives. Used for indoor advertising panels and booth arrangements. Commonly used metal or general adhesives are suitable for bonding on laminated panels. Double-sided adhesive tapes are suitable for connections that do not require high strength. For applications requiring high strength bonding, we recommend the use of one-component adhesives.
It should be noted that when used outdoors the adhesive has an average ability to withstand static strength.
When bonding aluminum composite panels with other materials, the bonding may fail due to the difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion of the materials.
5、Clamp connections:
Usually, you can also use a combination of clamps to fix and connect aluminum plastic panels. The clamps can seem to be made of aluminum or plastic materials, and generally consist of two parts and connected by screws.
